The central wholesale market is managed by the local government and consists of business operators that are trusted in the region. The strict standards on ingredients are maintained even when many industries face increased industrial competition, and efforts to stabilize the market are being made while social situations are changing.
The mission of us as a wholesaler is to stably supply high-quality marine
products produced in the Japanese seas and the seas around the world that we
have collected at fair prices.
Through this social role, we contribute to the creation of the regional food
culture.
To stabilize prices and secure a reliable supply, wholesale markets adopt an auction system. The auction system enables the three kinds of professionals—wholesalers, intermediate wholesalers, and participants—in buying and selling (business operators that are approved to participate in auctions by the wholesale market opener) and to set prices by buying and selling marine products purchased from producers.
We, wholesalers of the central wholesale market, are prohibited not only from refusing consigned products brought into the market but also from listing and selling them on the same day or selling them to third parties that have no permission to enter the market.
In this way, we stably provide safe, high-quality ingredients and contribute to our customers’ business by firmly maintaining the system created to stabilize distribution and promote fair pricing.
